Satoru Iwata - 10 Iconic Nintendo Games You Should Play As Tribute

9. The Legend Of Zelda: The Wind Waker

Once Iwata became the President of Nintendo he acted as the Executive Producer on practically every major game to come out of the company. This gave him the opportunity to be involved in the development of a Zelda game for the very first time. The result was the Wind Waker, which polarised opinion when it was first released thanks to its cel-shaded graphics not quite offering what many fans of Ocarina of Time had been hoping for. However, with the benefit of a little time the game has come to be known - rightfully - as the classic it was. Few titles before or since have managed to create a sense of adventure quite like Wind Waker. The cel-shaded aesthetic only added to the experience, offering Nintendo the opportunity to create an entire range of emotions for Link and crew that had never been seen before. Better yet, the visuals offered the game an almost timeless quality, still looking amazing today. Couple that with the Zelda gameplay that we all know and love, and you have a truly phenomenal game.
