Sekiro: 11 MAJOR Changes That Will Shock Dark Souls Fans
4. A Full Story With A Voiced Protagonist, Cutscenes & Characters
Sekiro is a more "standard" action game in terms of its plot setup and narrative table-setting. We've got Sekiro as a disgraced shinobi lamenting some past event in his life he can't remember. Cutscenes tell of factional wars between the invading Ashina clan and your own people, and most mind-blowing of all in the context of Soulsbourne titles: Your character now TALKS.
Though you don't have control over dialogue options or anything of the sort, Wolf will speak to the NPCs you encounter, enquiring about the state of the world or what's happened in the blank memory spots he struggles to fill in.
It's a staggering change for a studio known for building labyrinthine worlds of lore and character without using overt storytelling methods. Just how much of Sekiro's full story is told up front/in passive cutscenes, versus actively searching the environment or item descriptions, remains to be seen.
