Sekiro: 11 MAJOR Changes That Will Shock Dark Souls Fans
3. Stealth & Increased Mobility Completely Changes Combat
Back to gameplay, and Sekiro sees FromSoftware return to their roots, modernising the beloved Tenchu's stealth mechanics by giving us a grappling hook that can contextually attach to a number of rooftops, ledges and even enemies.
This goes hand in hand with tougher encounters and your XP commonly being wiped out on death: You're supposed to engage in hand-to-hand fights once you've thinned the herd, and if things take a turn for the worse, escape and regroup.
To get around the idea of chipping away at a formidable foe's health over time and cheesing the game in this way though, enemies will completely restore HP if you're out the picture too long, or otherwise disconnecting from combat.
Stealth is to be used as a way to grind XP; to heal and restart a fight without dying, and to strike an early blow from the shadows on a boss that then needs to be taken down bit by bit. As a set of mechanics, all of this is surprisingly useful when twinned with an expert melee system.
The real question is: Just how much of the Sekiro CAN we cheese when evasion and fooling the A.I. is on the cards?
