Another thing Sekiro changes completely is how "Souls" are handled i.e. the currency you're building up by defeating enemies.

In past games it was left on your corpse, meaning you'd have to sprint across the map to recover it, hoping you didn't die as it would then be lost forever.

In Sekiro, we get an XP bar that starts with a number, increasing as you max it out each time. Brilliantly, these numbers never go down once they're acquired, as when you die the game only takes XP off your in-progress bar.

It means you're better off grinding just that little bit more to lock a number in before progressing, as in the long run you'll be able to afford even better upgrades.
