Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice - 14 Helpful Gameplay Secrets You Didn't Know
7. There Are Specific Abilities/Items To Use Against Specific Bosses
I covered this in the Tips & Tricks article, but now I've spent more time with the game, I can break down some way more specific "move = boss strategy" techniques. Basically, though it doesn't carry across the entire game, there are a number of unlockable skills that directly correlate with bosses, making these encounters FAR easier if you know what to use.
- Shinobi Hunter: Use the Mikiri Counter to dash into his spear thrusts for a ton of easy damage.
- Gyoubu Oniwa (Horse Boss): Grab the Mid-Air Deflect, and once he comes in close, leap out the way while deflecting in the air to mitigate his wider reaching attacks. He'll then charge away and turn around, so use your grapple hook to get in close when the icon appears, and rinse, repeat.
- Genichiro: Explore the Ashina Castle's depths to procure a number of Eel Livers, then crunch them during his third phase to make this portion of the fight MUCH easier.
- Blazing Bull: Hold R1 for a thrust when he charges at you to stagger him, opening the beast up for followup attacks.
If you have any more extremely helpful abilities/items for specific bosses, let us all know down in the comments.
