Shadow Of War: 10 Brutally Honest Impressions You Need To Know
6. Grinding For Upgrades Isn't Worth It
Shadow of War has an overwhelming amount of things for players to tweak, customise and upgrade. Be it Talion himself, who comes equipped with numerous powers and weapons to be constantly tinkered with, or the many strongholds you take over during the course of the game, there's always some form of micromanaging to be done.
Unfortunately, it gets to the point where a lot of this busywork just isn't worth the hassle. It's easy to get swamped with rune upgrades for your weapons in particular, but outside of a couple that give your combat prowess a major boost, the majority aren't worth your time.
Constantly stopping the action so you can swap out a 6% damage boost for an 8% one doesn't make for a compelling gaming experience, and you'll probably get to the point where you'll ignore the system altogether.
Even worse, the sequel doesn't communicate how any of these systems work in an effective way, and constantly wading through endless menu screens until you figure out what the game wants you to do is time that would be better spent decapitating a couple hundred more Orcs.
