Shadow Of War: 10 Brutally Honest Impressions You Need To Know
7. Stealth Sections Get Real Old, Real Quick
By far the most unrefined aspect of Shadow of War is its stealth system. Virtually identical to how it was in the original, being sneaky in the sequel is far too overpowered.
You can be right in front of an Orc's snout and he still won't think about alerting any of his allies, while you can string together stealth kills more effortlessly than ever before thanks to long range finishing moves.
It's a basic and extremely forgiving system that can be easily ignored when freely exploring, but the problem is that the game seems to prioritise this style of play in the main campaign's missions.
The sequel repeatedly forces you to play stealthily during main and side missions, but there's just not enough to the sneaking mechanics to make these mandatory sequences actually fun to play.
Shadow of War simply isn't enjoyable when it's trying to be a stealth game, and the main quests would have felt like much less of a chore had they not forced restrictive sneaking sections on the player so often.
