Shadow Of War: 10 Brutally Honest Impressions You Need To Know

2. Laying Siege To Strongholds Is Ridiculously Fun

One of the biggest new features in Shadow of War is the ability to build up your own army of Orcs to take key strategic strongholds from the enemy. These aren't just locations that you can sneak your way into and sack from the inside, you have to purposefully build up an army that's equipped to deal with the dangers of each headquarters before launching a full-scale attack.

You won't gain much ground on a castle surrounded by dragons for instance if your allies are easily scared by fire, and the way the game naturally encourages you to think about who you should pick to take charge of each siege attempt is amazing.

The tactics are just the icing on the cake however, as the actual experience of raiding these highly-defended camps never fails to result in a spectacular set-piece.

Even better, while much of your time during Shadow of War is focused on building up your own army by taking enemy castles and forts as your own, the entire endgame switches this on its head, having you defend these tactical positions against waves of enemies.

It's a small variation, but it gives you a reason to keep on fighting long after you've seen how the main story wraps up.
