Music and sound effects play a massive part of creating the atmosphere of a good horror experience, and Silent Hill has always been a series that nails this. No sound from the series is more iconic than the siren that signifies impending danger, however, and it's caused more than enough terror of its own over the years.

Hearing this noise start up and creep in to any stage of a Silent Hill game is truly a frantic moment; the player knows something foul is likely approaching, and the way the noise suddenly permeates the air will always induce a panic.

You could pick almost any number of instances of the siren as your favourite audio scare from the series, depending on which one affected you most at the time, but it's hard to look past the introduction of Pyramid Head in Silent Hill 2!
