Silent Hill games are traditionally full-length titles that can be completed between ten to twelve hours. Hideo Kojima, however, is thinking about changing the format by releasing Silent Hills in episodes, creating yet another possible explanation for the plural title. Kojima has actually been considering episodic content for some time now, thinking that the game industry could learn something from television. According to a 2013 article by Metal Gear Informer, Kojima envisions creating a pilot episode to test the waters, and then adjust the remaining episodes based off player feedback. In 2014, according to a Gamespot article, Kojima admitted that P.T. was an experiment for Silent Hills. Considering Kojima's statements from the 2013 article, it's possible that P.T. is the pilot episode for the upcoming game. As with the open-world gameplay, fans might have concerns regarding the pricing and length of each episode, as well as how the format will affect the overall narrative. However, Kojima could easily use the format for his advantage; if he paces each episode correctly, then he could end each one with a mind blowing cliffhanger to keep everyone thinking until the next.
