Yes, considering that the title is plural, Silent Hills will probably be about multiple versions of the town. This isn't a new concept, as the recent Silent Hill games have placed a lot of emphasis on switching between the normal and other worlds; however, Kojima might reveal there are even more layers than just the two of which we know. In the demo, the lines Watch out. The gap in the door...its a separate reality, and The only me is me. Are you sure the only you is you? appear several times throughout. By themselves, these words already suggest that there are multiple universes; however, DreamcastGuy pointed out more mind-blowing clues in the same video where he discussed his gamer theory. Essentially, the main character exists in multiple realities, but the dead characters exist in one. Although trapped in this separate dimension, these ghostly figures are able to haunt the protagonist, but they can only occupy one hallway at a time. Then theres the line in which the main character sees a version of himself who wasn't really him, further grounding the theory about multiple universes. While nothing has been confirmed, this theory is highly compelling and easily one of the most plausible. Interestingly enough, the idea of multiple universes is not exclusive to Silent Hills; for instance, in Silent Hill 2, players can find the dead body of James Sunderland, the main character, in the Woodside Apartments. Perhaps Kojima is focusing on one aspect of the franchise that has simply remained unaddressed until (possibly) now?
