Soul Calibur 6: 10 Things It Must Learn From Tekken 7
4. Get Customization Right This Time
Bandai Namco One of the biggest frustrations that gamers have had with recent Soul Calibur games, has been the difficulty of unlocking customization items. Many fans have been drawn to the franchise for the in-depth and robust capabilities of the create-a-soul system, but unfortunately, most resort to hacks to get the parts they need. While details are sparse, Tekken 7 looks to be trying to take a page from SCs book, by promising a more in-depth customization mode with the ability to craft items as well as unlock outfits. However, the treasure box system and the customization in general arent going over well with fans at the arcades. For starters, customization slots look to be something that costs actual money. While many SC fans actually did wish to be able to purchase additional slots, this is going to a new extreme. Likewise, items have to be unlocked at random via fights. While they are free, nobody wants to have to spend endless amounts of time just to be able to stick a hoodie on Asuka or dress Lucky Chloe up like an IdolM@ster character. Hopefully, Soul Calibur VI learns from Tekken 7s mistake, and just gives the customization mode to gamers upfront without any tedious unlocking process or micro-transaction schemes.
