Tekken 7 is making sure not to repeat it€™s past mistake in Tekken 4 (and also a very poor choice made in Soul Calibur V) of excluding core favorites from the roster. One of the worst sins a fighting game sequel can commit is to exclude fan favorite characters from its line up. A few games have gotten away with it to some degree, like Street Fighter III. However, most do not. Even when a character is €œdead€ or not in the story canonically, most fans appreciate being able to unlock the character regardless - so give it to them. Soul Calibur V made the huge mistake of dumping off much of its gigantic cast, partly due to development being rushed to get it out in time for an EVO tournament. Regardless, it wound up making the game boring due to a lack of fighting styles, whereas previous entries had huge rosters with dozens of characters all featuring unique move-sets. The next entry especially needs variety to succeed, otherwise, it will make the same exact mistake as SCV.
