Spider-Man 2 PS5: 10 Alternate Costumes It MUST Include
7. Todd McFarlane Nineties Design
One of the highlights from the original game was the vintage suit offered up as a reward for reaching level 41. The gorgeous cel shaded design came straight off the pages and managed to blend surprisingly well with the hyper-realistic graphics. If Insomniac wish to continue the trend of using this kind of design, they need look no further than the nineties incarnation for inspiration.
While the overall quality of comics in the Nineties was questionable at best, Spider-Man had one of his most iconic runs. While the wall-crawler may not have had an easy time at the hands of Todd McFarlane, the artwork is still highly praised to this day. The chaotic but highly detailed style made up for some sketchy storytelling and remains one of the fan-favourite designs.
Despite financial success, McFarlane frequently clashed with Marvel’s editors, who often insisted on censoring his darker, gorier work. The constant disagreements caused the artist to leave his position at Marvel, opting to co-found the Image Comics company instead. With the introduction of Spawn, parallels were immediately drawn to McFarlane’s Spider-Man design, which he has played on across multiple Spawn covers.
