Swinging out of the pages of The Amazing Spider-Man #700, The Superior Spider-Man series offered up a completely new take on two of Marvel’s greatest. Doc Ock develops the technology to transfer his mind into a different body and poor Peter Parker is his unwilling participant. Octavius watches on as Peter – In Otto’s body - is killed, leaving him to take up the role of Spider-Man.

Parker’s body wasn’t the only thing he gained in the body swapping process. Peter’s consciousness remains trapped in his physical form, able to manifest itself as an entity capable of physically restricting Otto’s movements. This is where the far-fetched premise starts to come into its own. Peter acts as the voice of reason, causing Octavius to reconsider his approach to fighting crime.

Regardless of the story’s polarising nature, the Superior Spider-Man suit is one of the web-slinger's coolest designs yet. The design is stylish, yet not too far from the classic suit we know and love. The suit also offers up those extra arms - similar to the Iron Spider suit – which gives Insomniac the chance to include those mechanics without reusing a suit from the first game.
