With Michael Chernus being added to the cast of the upcoming Spider-Man: Homecoming to play the role of Tinkerer, adding the same character to Insomniac's game would offer the kind of two-pronged assault that Marvel love. With comic characters regularly having made their returns alongside movie appearances, there's a deep history of this kind of thing happening.

But Tinkerer wouldn't just tick the sales boxes. Tinkerer is a peculiar fellow, but behind his personality there is a near super-human intellect. Tinkerer has crafted some truly incredible tools and weapons over his time on Marvel's pages, with multiple villains turning to him as they seek ways to get one over on Spider-Man.

Tinkerer would be a great villain for the new game; assuming he could be bankrolled well enough to see him working with a massive inventory, Tinkerer's tools could terrorise New York. Drones, droids and other mechanical fiends could be unleashed in pursuit of the Wall-Crawler, giving players the challenge of fighting off countless assailants as opposed to facing off against one big baddie.
