4. Peter And MJ Are Estranged (And Both Are Playable)

Though we've known for years that there'd be a big chunk of the game focused on Peter outside of the suit, in particular his relationship with longtime love interest Mary Jane, Insomniac have only just made it clear what the situation between the two characters is.

According to them, Peter and MJ have suffered through an on-again-off-again relationship for years now, and by the beginning of the game haven't actually spoken to each other in six months. Funnily enough, in this universe MJ is the one who works at the Daily Bugle, working as an investigative journalist who will no doubt be able to provide Peter with insider info to aid his superhero antics.

It's clear that MJ has an important role in the story, and is actually one of the few playable characters confirmed so far. The extent of her gameplay sections is still being kept under wraps, but Insomniac have said that both her and Spidey will be teaming up at some point.

The relationship between the two characters has always been at the heart of Spider-Man stories, so it's great to see Insomniac injecting that same humanity into their upcoming release.
