Spider-Man PS4: 8 Past Mistakes It Must Avoid

1. Morality Systems

While we all had a jolly old time messing with an evil Spider-Man in Web of Shadows, morality systems and the wall-crawler don't compliment each other - The Amazing Spider-Man 2 confirmed as much four years ago.

Spider-Man is Spider-Man, and while there's something to be said about challenging the players with a strong narrative, flipping the wheel and giving them the opportunity to do very un-Spidey like things is pretty much immersion-breaking, and dedicates time and resources to a feature most players probably won't want to explore anyway, even with the promise of increased replayability.

Peter Parker is a compelling character in his own right and - as Batman: Arkham has already shown - players just want to be the hero. When it's pulled off everything else just seems to fall into place, and with Spidey set to light up consoles this autumn, making sure players inhabit the part should be a given.
