Yuriko Watanabe is known to comics fans as Wraith, the ghostly anti-hero who terrorised New York's criminal underworld. But for the purposes of Insomniac's Spidey title, Watanabe will just be an NYPD officer.
This actually aligns with the character's comic book origins, as the Yuri of the comics aspired to be an officer to follow in the footsteps of their grandfather and dad. She proved to be a pro-Spidey force while working with the police, liaising with the web-head to expose the Inner Demons despite official NYPD policy forbidding such cooperation.
It's not yet clear if Yuri will become Wraith in the game, but with the game taking most of its inspiration from Slott's run, there's a good chance we could see her suit up in the purple and gold costume at some point.

In his current role, Ewan incorporates his love of cinema, comic books, and history into written pieces and video essays for WhatCulture's Film & TV channel, as well as WhatCulture Gaming and WhatCulture Horror, with a particular focus on nineties-era Dad Movies, old school Westerns, and Golden Age Hollywood Noir.
