Spider-Man PS4 Review: 6 Ups & 1 Down

1. The Open World Is Bursting With Detail

As for the open world? Well, there are the usual tasks to do.

Wilson Fisk has plenty of old hideouts to raid, you will get addicted to doing all the collectibles, and the Oscorp lab missions all provide their own unique minigames to solve. Add in challenges by the villainous Taskmaster and a few surprise distractions to deal with along the way - one that teases the first piece of upcoming DLC - and this game is in no way short of content.

It's not a case of quantity over quality though - New York is chockfull with detail, a fact made evident by the addition of numerous city-wide landmarks. Players can visit the exteriors of the Sanctum Santorum, Avengers Tower and the Wakandan Embassy, among other locales, and with each district all looking unique in their own way (Hell's Kitchen is dark and gothic, while Times Square is bursting with light), the visual delineation helps to make this version of NYC feel genuinely marvellous.
