Spider-Man PS4: What Does The Ending Really Mean?

1. Miles Morales WILL RETURN As Spider-Man

Spider Man Miles Morales
Marvel

Miles Morales' role in Marvel's Spider-Man was brilliant, and though it would've been easy enough for Insomniac to wait until the sequel for that moment to happen, they only went and did it right in the finale.

With a genetically-modified Spider having piggy-backed off MJ during her escape from Osborn's abode, it encounters Miles at F.E.A.S.T. and proceeds to have a feast of its own, chowing down on his hand as he moves medical boxes from one room to another.

Prior gameplay sections featuring Morales already alluded to a bigger role for the character further down the line, but it looks as though that role will come in the sequel, or perhaps even in the DLC. The best post-credits scene of all showed Miles awkwardly confessing his newfound powers to Pete by leaping to the ceiling, and Parker's reply of doing the same was the perfect way of confirming these two are destined for bigger and better things further down the line.

Either way, it's absolutely brilliant to see how far Miles has come since his introduction in 2011. With a supporting role in a game, a key role in a film and an inevitable follow-up all set to spotlight his talents as Spider-Man, it's onwards and upwards for Brian Bendis and Sara Pichelli's character. Expect the sequel, whenever it releases, to give him a starring role.

Content Producer/Presenter

WhatCulture's very own resident movie guy, Ewan has been working in the content creation biz for over 10 years now, having started as a freelance contributor to WhatCulture Gaming all the way back in 2015. After graduating with a First-Class Honours in History from Northumbria University in 2017 (where he won a prize for a totally killer dissertation on the Watergate years), Ewan took on the role of Comics Editor at WhatCulture and quickly developed WhatCulture Comics into one of the biggest superhero-focused channels on YouTube. He followed this with a brief hiatus at Screen Rant in 2021, where he worked across the Gaming and Film sections as a writer and editor, before returning to WhatCulture as a Senior Content Producer / Presenter in 2023. He started his own podcast, We Love Dad Movies, in 2022, and has contributed several written pieces to the Eisner-nominated comics website Shelfdust as well. In his current role, Ewan incorporates his love of cinema, comic books, and history into written pieces and video essays for WhatCulture's Film & TV channel, as well as WhatCulture Gaming and WhatCulture Horror, with a particular focus on nineties-era Dad Movies, old school Westerns, and Golden Age Hollywood Noir. John Carpenter is his fave, and he thinks Batman Beyond should never have been cancelled. If that's your vibe, you'll probably like his stuff.
