Spider-Man PS4: What Does The Ending Really Mean?

2. A 'Team' Has Its Eye On Spider-Man

The Taskmaster side missions may have been nothing but glorified challenge maps, but the pay off gave us another hint at where the sequel's story could be heading next.

Upon defeating Taskmaster, Spidey asks why he's been tracking him for so long. As a mercenary first and foremost, the supervillain concedes that a team with a "six-figure salary" had been looking to recruit the web-slinger. He then disappears before the wall-crawler can ask him anymore questions, but just who exactly has been watching Spidey is an interesting prospect to consider.

Whether or not this was a team of the villainous persuasion or the heroic one is still yet to be determined, but Spidey is no stranger to team-ups in the comics. He's been an Avenger (though it's doubtful they pay that well), a member of the Fantastic Four, the Defenders and more, so to have a group keep tabs on him - albeit in a decidedly lethal way - isn't unheard of.

As for Taskmaster, he too has been affiliated with countless groups in the Marvel Universe, including both the Thunderbolts and S.H.I.E.L.D. In any case, it'll be interesting to see what angle Insomniac take with this tease, and whether or not the next time we see Spidey he'll be rolling around with a team of his own.
