Spider-Man PS4: 10 Comic Storylines Insomniac Must Use
9. Spider-Man No More!
Pretty much everyone's favourite Spider-Man film is Spider-Man 2. It hasn't aged well over the years (it must be said I rather enjoy its campy undertones), but it's still the film that everyone believes peaked the Spidey franchise. It's a point I'm certainly willing to concede, in spite of the fact I'm a bigger fan of Andrew Garfield's turn under the mask.
But back to the point: Spider-Man 2 was actually inspired by one of Stan Lee and John Romita Sr's most famous Spidey storylines: 'Spider-Man No More!'. In the comic, a relatively established Peter Parker tries to abandon his life of vigilantism, only to discover that (spoiler alert!) he's now inseparable from the identity. It's one of the earliest tests the character faced in terms of analysing his role in New York and, as one of the most famous Spidey tales, it at least deserves a callback in Insomniac's title.
They've already said that their story takes place during a period in which Peter is well established as the wall-crawler, so having this debate infused with a narrative dealing with foes old and new could really raise the stakes of the story. Of course, its been traversed onscreen before, but that shouldn't stop it from being addressed at least fleetingly at some point in the title's plot.
