Spider-Man PS4: 10 Comic Storylines Insomniac Must Use
8. Kraven's Last Hunt
It's probably just a tad blasphemous to have what many consider to be the greatest Spider-Man story of all time so early on in the list, but before you start sharpening your poison darts, let me just explain the reasoning behind my decision.
It's not so much the plot of Kraven's Last Hunt that should make it into any new Spidey title, but the tone and commentary of it. First and foremost, it serves as an amazing dissection of one of Spider-Man's greatest rogues (Kraven the Hunter), subsequently depicting a relationship that moves beyond the usual banterous (and indeed enjoyable) back and forth most villains have with the web-slinger. It's an emotionally mature ride that definitely isn't intended for younger readers, but that's not to say its spirit can't be embodied by any future Spidey game.
Although it's obvious that no one wants to play a Spidey title solely concerned with a dark and dingy premise, it's important not to forget that the character has been portrayed most convincingly in some incredibly precarious scenarios. Kraven's Last Hunt exemplifies the true extent to which Spidey's vulnerability can still be tapped, and though we all love the idea of playing a Batman-like character that literally can't be touched, Peter Parker is not invincible. By all means give us the fun of using all his greatest powers, of course, but always remember that the character is no stranger to the macabre.
Just please avoid four-armed Spidey. Man-Spider definitely doesn't need another appearance anytime soon.
