Spyro Reignited Trilogy Review

Spyro Reignited Trilogy
Activision

Spyro’s remake is precisely that. This is not simply just a new coat of paint; all the walls have been rebuilt. So how does a 20 year old game design translate into modern technology? The answer, in short, is brilliantly. The Reignited Trilogy will appeal to nostalgia seekers and curious bystanders alike. The design of each level has been purposefully left exactly the same as the original game, but with stunningly enhanced graphics, far more sophisticated controls, and a modernised version of the original soundtrack. Spyro arguably elevates the charm dripping from the original.

So what exactly has changed? And is all of it for the better?

Firstly, the graphics. Spyro Reignited extremely crisp and utterly gorgeous. Characters and enemies have been modernised but without deviating too far from the original design; everything is still necessarily recognisable. Even back in 1998, the Spyro games had terrific level design, and it's just as strong., untouched, two decades later. Plus, our adorable purple protagonist has a whole bunch of adorable new animations.
