Star Wars: 10 Best Starfighter Games You Need To Play

2. Rogue Squadron 2: Rogue Leader

Rogue Leader was considered a must-have launch title for the Gamecube, no doubt inspiring many Star Wars fans who had never given Nintendo's chunky looking block and tiny game discs a second glance to go out and pick one up.

The game lets you play as either Luke Skywalker or Wedge Antilles, legendary leaders of Rogue Squadron, throughout the time period of the original trilogy. It is very much a pick-up-the-controller-and-go game, with a simple heads up display and the ability to give your wingmen basic orders.

This game is about speed and action, both of which will get thrown at you in spades. The ship choices allow you to fly virtually every Rebel starfighter shown on screen in Star Wars, Empire, and Jedi, as well as the Millennium Falcon, the T-16 Skyhopper, Darth Vader's personal TIE Advanced, and, again, that 1969 Buick Electra 225.

Giving you the opportunity to fly iconic ships through iconic battles, and using one of the best graphics engines of its generation, Rogue Leader improves on the groundwork set out by Rogue Squadron and Battle for Naboo in every way.

This game should be considered a high-water mark of not only Star Wars games but of the Gamecube itself.
