Star Wars: 10 Games We Want To See From EA

2. Battlefront 3

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=izsSndr3IOs Disney, God help you if you get in the way of this one. It's been seven and a half years since Battlefront 2 was released and despite the fact that there are some incredible fan-made expansion packs for the PC version and that there have been spin-offs on the PSP (but let's be honest, who actually played those?), Battlefront 3 is long overdue. The most annoying thing about Battlefront 3 not yet being in our hands is that it's not being stymied in pre-production by red tape or executives who think it won't make money. It's almost completely finished. The video at the top of this page was screened to some of Free Radical's (the game's developers) employees and, as you can see, it looks bloody good. I'd say it's almost ready to be burnt to disc. But Lucasarts refused to spend a lot of money on marketing it and Free Radical went bust before the final stages of production happened. So the game is currently in development hell for the foreseeable future. Especially since some Free Radical employees have reportedly said that some of the new technology they developed for the game will die with them. Despite shelling out $2.05 billion in cash for Star Wars, Disney is loaded. One of the bonuses of being a widely hated corporate giant that buys up pretty much everything in sight is that you're not short of a few quid. Paying to own the rights to and finish Battlefront 3 would barely dent Disney's bank balance and would be the smartest business move since somebody had the idea that bicycles would work and sell a lot better if both wheels were the same size.
