Star Wars Battlefront 2: 12 Features EA Must Add
1. Galactic Conquest
Galactic Conquest was a fan-favourite mode from the original Pandemic games and is something that long-term fans are desperately wanting from the newest instalments. It is a feature that appeared alongside all the previous entries, including those exclusive to the PSP console.
Players move their forces across a Galaxy Map with the intent of taking over the galaxy. Planets have their own unique perks when controlled and players would participate in both ground and space-based combat across all the maps that the game had to offer, regardless of the Faction you play as. Droids on Endor? That can happen.
Galactic Conquest could be perfected under EA DICE’s care. It’s not leaps and bounds away from Battlefield’s classic Conquest mode and with a few added strategy elements, it could be a brand new mode. It could be played exclusively offline in single-player or co-op, or even brought online for a massive, multiplayer experience.
At present, the issue here is that there isn’t enough content to facilitate such a mode. Each planet would need both ground and space-based maps and that’s before you add in the planetary perks, additional maps and a turn-based strategy mode. But it’s not impossible.
EA DICE confirmed that Galactic Conquest would not be making a return for the first remake. With Battlefront II, they seem to be listening to the fans. A forum was spotted for Galactic Conquest, so they could be testing the water but there have been no rumours to suggest any action has been taken.
Maybe in the long run we’ll get something that resembles Galactic Conquest. All we can do now is wait.
