Star Wars Battlefront 2 Campaign Hands-On: 10 Things We Learned

10. No Star Wars Logo Or Crawl

A Long Time Ago

Just like Rogue One, Battlefront 2 opens with the standard "A long time ago..." text, before segueing directly into the first shot of the campaign.

Immediately we're in the same sort of gritty, relatable, "human" territory as Gareth Edwards' 2016 masterpiece, showing Versio commanding a chat-happy unit filled with definable personalities.

Brilliantly, the game actually opens with Iden being captured by a Rebel ship, only to be questioned by a very "Empire"-like commander - clearly shown to represent how cold demeanours exist on both sides of the Force. All of this cements Battlefront as a spiritual sequel (of sorts) to where Rogue One left off, and being we're seeing Star Wars get bolstered by a more mature tonality going forward on the silver screen, fits perfectly.
