Star Wars Battlefront: 5 Things You Need To Know About The New Single Player Mode

5. It's Motivated By The Backlash

Perhaps the most important thing to know about the single player mode is that it only exists because of the fan backlash. When Battlefront was fully unveiled as an almost totally online game (there was only a couple of tutorials and wave combat you could play alone), fans weren't happy. Not only because online-only multiplayer games can struggle with long-term engagement, but because the original Battlefront offered so much in terms of offline play.

And so EA listened. Based on how they presented the development process, it sounds like things were really kicked into gear on Skirmish around the time of the game's release.

This speaks of a bigger creative approach behind the game, where everything produced is influenced by what the community's saying (which makes sense for a game whose longevity lives and dies on a large group of engaged players), and suggests things will be improved in the future; while the current game is still restricted by what was there upon initial release, a sequel will hopefully be much more in line with what we all want.
