Star Wars: Battlefront II - What Does The Ending Really Mean?

1. We'll See More In The DLC

Ultimately, however, it seems as though we have to wait until December 13 to get the full story on Iden's fate, with EA having promised a 'Resurrection' DLC to release in time for Episode VIII's December 14 premier.

The title clearly implies that it'll revolve around Gleb's Project Resurrection, which in itself is a very interesting mystery to unravel, but the more pressing question on everyone's lips (right now at least), has to be regarding the identity of Iden's daughter. She could be Rey, she could be someone else entirely (maybe even Tallie Lintra, who'll feature in the multiplayer portion of the DLC), but who knows if it'll even be revealed in the DLC itself.

Matt Martin, who co-wrote the game's story along with Mitch Dyer, has actually warned people about playing the DLC before TLJ releases, so it definitely looks as though it'll contain some details from Rian Johnson's upcoming film, if not in regards to Luke's compass, then to the machinations of the First Order more generally or - most exciting of all - the fate of Rey's parents.

Time will only tell how Battlefront impacts upon the wider canon, but if it does carry a salience in this current moment, in relation to Episode VIII, then we could be in the midst of a bold new era of Star Wars storytelling.
