Star Wars: Darth Maul Wishlist - 8 Things We'd Love To See

6. Maul's Journey To Palpatine

This would be a story that I think all Star Wars fans could appreciate, especially after Maul's origins were so tantalisingly teased during his tenure on the Clone Wars. Speaking in an AMA regarding the title's potential resurrection, Red Fly designer Dan Borth remarked on how the game in its original incarnation would have started off with Maul at the age of either 9 or 11, prior to his involvement in the Phantom Menace. Either way you look at it that's a pretty juicy time period to explore in the Star Wars mythos, and would really allow the writers to go about fleshing out the character's backstory and how he came to be the ward of the most powerful Sith in the galaxy. Borth also promised that the game would have made for a morally ambiguous tale, stating that: "We wanted to show what he went through to become a Sith. Showcase the torture the Emperor put him through. Show how you as the player would have made the same mistakes and ended up a Sith." Now if that doesn't make for good drama I clearly don't know what does. Injecting that level of emotional baggage into a Star Wars title would elevate the maturity beyond that of anything previous releases had aimed to cover. It's part of what made 1313 look so appealing when it was first demoed, and would make Maul's solo début a sure-fire success in the process.
