Saw Gerrera could well be considered both enemy and ally. Advocating more extreme measures in the resistance against the Empire, Saw frequently came into odds with the Alliance, even outright betraying them on occasion.

This makes Saw both a fascinating character and a perfect bridge for the player in this dark time period, someone who walks the line between criminal and hero.

Gamers got denied Star Wars 1313, LucasArts’ delve into the seedy underworld of the galaxy far, far away, so it would be excellent to do that as a Jedi evading the law - and Saw Gerrera could be someone to offer good Bioware-like moral quandaries for players to agonize over.

Furthermore, a lot of Saw’s past is still a mystery. While Rebels filled in a lot of the time between his first appearance as a young man in Clone Wars and his live-action debut (and death) in Rogue One, we still don’t know what he was getting up to immediately after Clone Wars - and it’d be fun to find out. He has to be voiced by Forest Whitaker though, that's a given.
