Street Fighter 5: 10 Essential Tips All New Players Need To Know

5. Master EX Attacks

EX attacks have been in Street Fighter games for years and they remain as important as ever in Street Fighter V. Briefly, EX attacks are more powerful versions of special moves. Once your EX bar is full, you can either unleash your critical art attack, or use one of the three slots to unleash an EX special move. Ryu's EX hadoken for example hits your opponent for double-damage, and his EX shoryuken hits your opponent twice. Mastering these moves is essential to success on Street Fighter V. You might be tempted to let your EX gauge fill up, allowing you to use your critical art attack, but if you're in the 3rd and final round and both you and your opponent are down to the last bit of health, an expertly timed EX attack could win you the match if the pressure's on and you catch your opponent off guard. Take time to learn each characters' EX attacks and what they do. Some of them are simply more powerful versions of their normal special moves, and some of them are different attacks entirely.
