Street Fighter 5: 8 Improvements Capcom Must Make

1. Relaunching The Game

Street Fighter V failed to leave a good first impression, which is everything. Now that the game comes into a far more cohesive whole, with glimmers of much better to come - Capcom's best bet to win back the disenfranchised may be to take a second chance.

While it's been promised Street Fighter V would be the only disc required, that doesn't mean a new edition is impossible. A "Super SFV" free upgrade, sold at retail with previous DLC characters bundled in, wouldn't leave any current players in the cold.

Mortal Kombat XL's launch has proven this method, as it launched as a new disc for new players, and as a free upgrade for veterans.

Another far-out alternative? Free to play.

Before you prepare the pitchforks, Killer Instinct has taken this method and met proven success, without devaluing itself as a fighter. A basic free version could be both lucrative for Capcom, and help spread the game to players who won't dive in on a full product - while keeping players who already own the game happy with what they've purchased, which is all 16 characters and all single-player content.

Of course, seeing as the game just only launched a few months ago, a relaunch so soon may be a risky option, and Capcom could face heavy fan backlash.

No matter what happens to the game or its future, all that ultimately matters is this: Street Fighter V is a great, but flawed game.

If Capcom can find a way to fix the issues that plague the game, and bring in a new lifeblood of fighting fans, Street Fighter V could easily become the championship contender it aims to be.
