2. Metal Slug Tactics
The Metal Slug series is a long-dormant one. If we're excluding an iOS game, the last Metal Slug game was released in 2009 and that was just a remake of Metal Slug 2.
In fact, almost everything made by SNK has gone a while without a release. We all just assumed SNK died after they handed over the keys for Terry Bogard to Masahiro Sakurai so he could get one last hurrah in Smash Bros..
Apparently, that's not true though as Sumer Game Fest announced a new Metal Slug game, Metal Slug Tactics.
Metal Slug Tactics was revealed in an awesome trailer that mixed anime-style scenes with actual gameplay which has its own beautiful pixel art-style.
Technically a spin-off, the main series Metal Slug games are run-and-gun games whilst Metal Slug Tactics is as the name implies, a tactics game. It can be assumed that Metal Slug fans will be grateful to have anything at this point.
Whilst this is indeed a slower affair than most Metal Slug fans might be used to, it seems to have all the over the top action and style that the franchise is known for.
It's coming to Steam, although we have no release window.
