When all is said and done, the Wii U will be remembered as one of the biggest flops in the video game industry this side of the Millenium.

Super Mario Maker had the unfortunate setback of being chained to the Wii U, and even though this was probably the perfect console to host such a game until now, it meant that it wasn’t getting the spotlight a Mario title deserved. It's an absolute delight that a wider audience will now get to experience the game's brilliance. Yes the original did come to the 3DS, but thas just not the same.

As reported by EuroGamer, the new instalment into the Maker franchise has already doubled the sales of the original, which can only mean that there will be plenty of community-created levels for years to come.

The Switch just feels like the perfect home for a Mario Maker: keep this console in your bag and at anytime, a level can be added to or a stage attempted, and with a capacitive stylus, constructing levels is a breeze.

There will be some complaints that there still isn’t a concrete solution to get video out for the Switch when it is in handheld mode, but for the majority of players, this'll never be an issue.
