Super Mario Odyssey: 10 Reasons It's Already A Game Of The Year Contender

Recently revealed in the latest Nintendo Direct, Snapshot Mode is a feature that feels right at home on the Nintendo Switch.

Snapshot Mode allows for the player to pause time at any moment and take screenshots of whatever’s happening in the game. Nintendo could have left it at that, but they’ve also added several angles, logos, filters and options that make the mode feel much more fleshed out than other games. This is a feature that didn’t even need to be in the game, and here Nintendo are making it look perfect.

Nintendo’s new commitment to showing off their graphics isn’t just seen in Super Mario Odyssey, as the feature also made an appearance in Breath of the Wild. Link’s use of a camera within that game felt like a predecessor to the Snapshot Mode seen in Super Mario Odyssey, as it was fairly limited in Link’s adventure.

Here’s hoping Snapshot Mode is featured in even more Nintendo games after Odyssey.
