Super Mario Odyssey 2: 7 Enemies That Need To Be Playable
2. Heavy Para-Beetle
Introduced in New Super Mario Bros. Wii, the Heavy Para-Beetle is a variant of the much more iconic Para-Beetle. They're definitely not in anybody's top ten Mario enemy list but the reason they deserve a place in Super Mario Odyssey 2 is because of how interesting they would be to play as.
Heavy Para-Beetles are flying beetle-like creatures. In New Super Mario Bros. Wii, if Mario stands on a Heavy Para-Beetle, it will slowly start to descend. If you translate this to Super Mario Odyssey it could be a lot of fun.
The second one is captured, it could start to fall from the sky. The gameplay possibilities are endless with this. Capturing one would allow you to cross vast distances, but you're going to need to be quick otherwise you'll end up falling into a bottomless pit.
If an air-space was filled with Heavy Para-Beetles a challenge could arise from having to stop capturing a tired-out Heavy Para-Beetle and capturing another fresh one whilst still in the air.
Regular Para-Beetles could still make for a fun capture but their heavy equivalent would definitely lead to more interesting gameplay.
