Super Mario Run Review: 7 Ups & 3 Downs

7. There's A Surprising Amount Of Content

Another criticism levelled at the game by players who've only picked up the free trial is that the amount of content seems lacking.

It's true, the game only contains six worlds, each with four levels, making for a total of twenty-four. And with each level lasting just a couple minutes each at most, that might appear to be quite a meagre offering.

But there's much more to Mario Run than just that, especially if you want to unlock all of the bonus content. Generally, endless runners aren't so much about reaching point A to B, they're about how skilfully you can pull off an entire level in one go, collecting all of the trophies and trinkets along the way without missing anything.

Super Mario Run is the exact same, containing five bonus coins per level to collect.

And if you collect those five, another five appear in more difficult locations. And if you collect those five, a final five manifest, only this time the level is changed slightly to make things even more difficult. That's a minimum of three plays of each level, and trust me, some of the final coins are very challenging to collect in one go, so it'll translate to many more tries.

That's not to mention the other game modes...
