Super Mario Run Review: 7 Ups & 3 Downs
5. There's A Satisfying Level Of Challenge
Those unfamiliar with Mario platformers in the last while may assume that - based on the friendly, appealing graphics - that they're now disappointingly easy. While it's true Nintendo has kept the Mario series deeply accessible, they've also managed to maintain a keen level of difficulty should you want to experience it.
As mentioned, the base World Tour mode has a healthy amount of challenge if you decide to go for all three sets of bonus coins, leading to a high number of sighs while you reset the level because you missed one crucial jump.
But it's the Toad Rally mode that is utterly ruthless, as each loss against another player leads to a loss in Toads - and if you want to unlock everything, you're really gonna need them.
Not only that, but in order to get the rarer Toads (generally the purple and yellow ones) you'll need to duke it out against players on increasingly more difficult stages. If you ignore all the online stuff and the secret coins, you could probably blast few the World Tour with few problems, but if you want to grab everything, it's definitely not going to be easy.
