Super Nintendo Classic: All 21 SNES Games Announced - Ranked
14. Super Castlevania IV
If there was any justice int he world, there'd be a new Castlevania game as often as there are Call Of Duty releases (preferably with an approach to difficulty borrowed from the Dark Souls franchise). As it is, we're forced to mostly look back and remember the heady days before HD consoles for our kicks.
Super Castlevania IV was a sort-of remake of the original Castlevania, adding lots of gloss and some updates that fixed the frustrations of the control system in such profoundly effective manner that the game became almost universally adored.
When you think back to enjoying the best of Castlevania, there's a very good chance this is where your mind turns. The brand new whip system (which allowed for offence and swinging around levels) is now pretty much synonymous with the best of the series, and this is where it began.
