Super Smash Bros: 10 Game Franchises We NEED To See

Capcom have a storied history with Nintendo and whilst some of their franchises, such as Devil May Cry and Dead Rising, have rarely made an appearance on Nintendo systems, others have almost exclusively been released on them. A handful of Capcom characters have now made their way into the world of Super Smash Bros, chief amongst them Mega Man and Ryu and Ken from Street Fighter, paving the way for future inclusions.

Viewtiful Joe could certainly be a candidate, but given that he isn’t owned by Capcom directly (instead being a licensed anime character) and hasn’t appeared in a game since 2005, it would be more feasible to see the characters from Ace Attorney, such as Phoenix Wright and Miles Edgeworth.

Lawyers and fighting games don’t naturally go hand in hand – nobody from Tekken is moonlighting in night court, for instance – so moving Phoenix and company from the courtroom to the battlefield would certainly be a gamble, but the likes of the Animal Crossing villager or Wii Fit Trainer are hardly known for their fighting prowess either.

What would be more well suited is Ace Attorney’s visual style, as well as some of its more entertaining signature gameplay concepts. Entire fights could be brought to a stop by a huge call of ‘OBJECTION’, giving the user a few seconds to capitalise on the suddenness.
