5. Heihachi - Tekken

How a crossover between Smash and Tekken has yet to happen beggars belief. As owner of the latter and chief developer of the former together with series creator Masahiro Sakurai, Bandai Namco greenlighting King, Jin, Kazuya or any other Tekken mainstay for a vacation to Nintendo's all-star brawler has been a question of 'when' rather than 'if' since its assumption of the role for Smash's Wii U outing.

That being the case, it's as surprising as a car having four wheels that several rumours have consistently named characters from the Tekken series as potential DLC, the latest coming from the same semi-reputable source naming Dragon Quest's Erdrick as a potential candidate. It stipulates that longtime Tekken antagonist Heihachi is planned to join Smash Ultimate as a DLC fighter in the future, fresh off the back of his apparent demise at Tekken 7's climax.

If true, Tekken fans might feel a little short-changed, what with only one fighter joining the ranks, but who knows, he could be joined by his progeny in the form of Echo Fighters similarly to Street Fighter's Ken. Here's hoping that's the case.
