Super Smash Bros. Ultimate DLC: 8 Rumoured Characters You Need To Know About

6. Banjo & Kazooie - Banjo-Kazooie

Since Smash's humble origins on N64, Banjo-Kazooie fans have been clamouring for the duo to make an appearance in the all-star brawler. Had Nintendo opted not to sell the pair's owners to Microsoft in 2002, perhaps the outcome would have been different, but the sale went through, and any prospect of a guest appearance happening evaporated.

However, a lot can change in 20 years. Smash has progressively opened up to allowing more and more third-party properties to join its roster, and with Microsoft and Nintendo now rubbing shoulders as cross-platform buddies, Banjo and Kazooie showing up for Smash Ultimate isn't the tall order it once was.

Still, those are all presumptions, credible rumours are what really matter. Shortly before Ultimate's launch, an anonymous 4chan user citing inside Nintendo sources listed several characters reportedly in the works as DLC, one of which being Banjo and his avian buddy. Alone, the claims mean little, but the same rumour specifically named Persona 5's Joker as another post-launch addition, one which, in light of the Game Awards, turned out to be right on the money.

Does that cement Banjo-Kazooie's inclusion? Not at all. A genuine possibility? You betcha.
