Super Smash Bros. Ultimate: Every Confirmed Character (And How They've Changed)

58. Bowser Jr.

Nintendo

Is Baby Bowser Bowser's baby or Bowser as a baby? The answer: it depends. Anyway, the Koopa sprog is unchanged from the last outing, and comes with all the Koopalings in tow.

59. Duck Hunt

Nintendo

Smash 4 fulfilled the childhood fantasies of a lot of '80s kids by letting them wipe the sh*t-eating smirk off the face of Duck Hunt's snickering dog. And thankfully, we can do so again on the Switch.

60. Ryu

Ryu SSBU
Nintendo

A DLC fighter for Smash 4, Street Fighter II's de facto protagonist is (presumably) now part of the standard roster in Smash Ultimate. One significant alteration is that Ryu will now always face his opponent in 1-on-1 encounters, much like in Capcom's classic arcade brawlers.

61. Cloud

Cloud SSBU
Nintendo

In a similar manner to Robin's new HUD, Cloud's Limit Break gauge is visible at all times near his damage counter. He comes in two styles: Advent Children emo and FFVII comfy purple sweater.

62. Corrin

Corrin SSBU
Nintendo

Yes, good question: "who?" Corrin is the avatar from Fire Emblem Fates, and is virtually indistinguishable from the slew of other fighters from Nintendo's long- running tactical RPG series.

63. Bayonetta

Bayonetta SSBU
Nintendo

Bayonetta was a stupendously powerful DLC character in Smash 4, and it seems as though her powers have been greatly diminished for the sequel. There are unique sound effects for both her costumes from Bayonetta and Bayonetta 2, whilst demon arms- dealer Rodin pops up as an assist trophy.

Benjamin was born in 1987, and is still not dead. He variously enjoys classical music, old-school adventure games (they're not dead), and walks on the beach (albeit short - asthma, you know). He's currently trying to compile a comprehensive history of video game music, yet denies accusations that he purposefully targets niche audiences. He's often wrong about these things.
