16 Best Missions From Mass Effect Trilogy

10. Project Overlord (ME2)David

Project Overlord has three things going for it. An attempt at mixing up gameplay with some puzzle and platforming sections, another strong ethical conundrum, and a good storyline. The new gameplay sections aren€™t ground-breaking but are a fun break from the usual shoot and cover. The choice of whether or not to torture an innocent man to potentially save the lives of thousands is an age-old utilitarian puzzle, but seeing the suffering of the innocent David Archer really hammers home how much is at stake. And the plot is exceptional, with the fear instilled by the violent computer consciousness giving way to pity at David€™s plight. An outstanding mission.

9. Archangel (ME2)

Recruiting Archangel begins like any other mission. Working through the slums of Omega, you gradually force your way nearer and nearer to the mysterious vigilante. When you finally reach him, however, the reveal that he€™s been your trusted friend and comrade Garrus all along is perfectly handled. Rarely does Mass Effect get its story-telling so pitch perfect, and the dynamic escape from Omega while taking out all three of the mercenary group leaders is just the icing on the cake. Garrus was a strong character in ME1, but it€™s not until ME2 that he became a fan favourite, and this mission was the perfect way to reintroduce him.

8. Treason (ME2)

The third Mass Effect 2 mission on this list in a row. Charged with treason, your loyal squadmate Tali€™Zorah must return to the Quarian fleet to answer for her crimes. Journeying to a race€™s homeworld is always interesting, and the Migrant Fleet which has served the Quarians since their exile from Rannoch is no different. The chance to act as Tali€™s lawyer in her trial is refreshing, and of all the side plots which dealt with parental problems in Mass Effect 2 (and that€™s an article all by itself), this is amongst the most compelling. Do you let Tali take the fall for her father€™s shame, or destroy the legend that€™s built up around him for the Quarian people?
