The Big Secret You Missed In GTA 5
3. The Bigfoot Update Changed Everything
Ever since the release of GTA: San Andreas, rumours have done the rounds that Bigfoot can be spotted in the game around the Mount Chiliad region, and though some persuasive fakes have been created over the years, Rockstar eventually confirmed that no, there's no sasquatch in the game at all.
But in GTA V Rockstar finally gave fans what they wanted by featuring Bigfoot in the game proper.
He can be spotted briefly in the story mission "Predator," and once the player achieves 100% completion, they'll unlock the Strangers and Freaks mission "The Last One," where Franklin encounters a man dressing up as Bigfoot.
Yet to get back to how you're able to play as Bigfoot yourself, you first need to have that 100% completion locked in, as well as having beaten The Last One and collected all 27 of the aforementioned peyote plants.
Following the release of the Freemode Events Update, golden peyote plants would start to appear daily between 5:30 and 8am whenever the weather was snowy or foggy.
Ingesting one of these special plants transforms the player into Bigfoot, who despite his larger stature and increased strength, is basically capable of doing all the driving and shooting that Michael, Franklin, and Trevor are.
But it gets better - there are seven golden peyote plants which the player can track down on sequential days, and after eating all seven, you'll be able to follow the nearby sound of growls and a trail of corpses to Thomson Scrapyard.
There you'll do battle with a fellow sasquatch wearing a letterman jacket, clearly modelled on Teen Wolf, the hallucination finally coming to an end when you defeat him.
And while this just about covers the peyote plant's magnificent body-hopping effects in GTA V, it isn't the last time we've seen it in a Rockstar video game...
