The Big Secret You Missed In GTA 5
2. The Peyote Plant's Legacy
Rockstar also included a similar mechanic in their most recent AAA blockbuster release, Red Dead Redemption 2, or to be precise its multiplayer component, Red Dead Online.
In September 2020, almost two years after the game hit stores, Rockstar released a small update which added, among other things, a pamphlet entitled "The Buck Vitalism Studies."
Players who are Rank 5 or higher in the Naturalist specialty can receive the pamphlet from Harriet Davenport.
Reading it will then allow them to find and collect five Harrietum Officinalis flowers and discover a set of deer tracks. Interacting with the tracks will temporarily transform the player into a buck for a few minutes, and you can repeat this trip by simply collecting more flowers.
Since then pamphlets have been added for rabbits, boars, and opossums, and while the feature isn't nearly as fleshed-out or expansive as it is in GTA V, it's still pretty neat.
Plus, PC players have unsurprisingly created mods allowing them to assume the form of any animal in the game at the press of a button. You love to see it.
And so, we've now comprehensively run down the most bizarre and surprising of GTA V's big secrets - one you probably missed, especially if you moved on from the game shortly after launch and never returned.
But now there's just one thing left to consider: should we expect to see similar silliness in GTA VI?
