The Division: 10 Crucial Tips & Tricks You Need To Know
3. Use Cover Or Die
So this may be the most painfully obvious tip, but you'd be extremely surprised the amount of people who don't abide by it. The Division is not meant to be played like a run-and-gun shooter. This isn't COD or Max Payne, so don't run into a gunfight like a mad man, you will die and just be a nuisance to your team when you need to be revived. Cover is all over the damn place, so use it. In the game's settings, you can better tune this cover experience, too. As you may notice in-game, sometimes moving towards the edge of a given surface makes your character move off, and suddenly be open for some free shots. This is down to the option to trigger detachment from cover being turned on by default. It may be tedious at first, but turning off this feature will require you to hit a button to exit, so you won't be open from those free shots and you'll be free to look wherever and move wherever without worry. The option for your character to move around corner cover with a button press is also off by default - something else that should be tweaked, as in more intense firefights, the last thing you want to do is accidentally expose yourself.
